6.10. Managing Categories

Hover your mouse over each of the numbered callouts to highlight the associated area of the Manage Categories screen.

(1)	Filter by Text Search: Enter text to filter the list of categories to entries containing the text.
(2)	Filter by Number of Entries: Click on one of the radio buttons to filter the list of categories by the number of associated content entries.
(3)	Sort Categories: Click on one of the columns to sort the categories by that column's details, click again to change the sort direction (an indicator arrow appears). The Entries and Actions columns are not sortable.
(4)	Actions Drop-down Menu: Click on one of the drop-down menus in the Actions column to see and use actions available for each entry, including View, Edit, and Delete.
(5)	Lazy-load Scrollbar: When there are many more categories than can fit on-screen, only enough categories are retrieved to fill the display. When you use the scrollbar, additional categories are fetched. This means that scrolling might appear to be slightly slower than you might expect, but it allows filtering, sorting and initial display to be much faster when you have hundreds or thousands of categories.

6.10.1. Dragging Categories to Manage Nesting

In addition to being able to manage a category's nesting through the Edit Category dialog, a category row in the Manage Categories screen can be dragged onto another category.

When a category is dragged on top of another category, the category beneath is highlighted.

If you release the dragged category here, it becomes nested within the highlighted category.

When a category is dragged to the very top or very bottom of the category grid, a thin marker, or "drop line", appears, indicating the target location.

If you release the dragged category here, it is moved so that it is no longer nested within another category.
